EAT
The food we serve at The Fox & Hounds Inn is intended to complement our overall identity as a Dales village pub. We therefore place great emphasis on good, wholesome dishes and decent portions, using fresh vegetables and salads. There are traditional pub favourites such as steak and kidney pie, chicken curry and lasagne, as well as a full range of steaks and gammons cut by our local village butcher from exceptional quality meats.
All our food is homemade and can be eaten in the Bar or in the Dining Room where residents automatically have a table reserved for them each evening. *Sorry – we do allow dogs in the Bar but not in the Dining Room.
In addition we bake homemade pizzas in our special pizza oven until 11.00pm each night and these can be eaten on the premises or are available as a takeaway. We have a long list of varieties and we bake garlic bread as well. These are hot and tasty and very popular with the locals.
Our lunchtime bar menu includes novel treats such as the Builders Brunch, Dalesmans Lunch and the Frenchman’s Lunch as well as the more usual soup and sandwich.
We try to provide for just about anything you might fancy and have put a lot of thought into the menus as well as keeping the prices at a reasonable level to suit all pockets.
DRINK
The Yorkshire Dales have traditionally been a stronghold for the beers of John Smiths Brewery in Tadcaster, and is still today the choice of the born and bred local population. John Smiths Cask Bitter is always resident on our bar but is also complemented by the availability of Black Sheep Bitter which is so popular with visitors and beers from The Copper Dragon Brewery, Skipton, which are also stocked by popular demand.
PLAY
We host a men’s darts team as well as one for ladies, a dominoes team and – in the summer – the traditional game of quoits is played out in front of the pub on the green. For the visitor, the Dales are a hive of things to do and places to visit. We are close to:-

West Burton, itself, is home to the well known Cat Pottery, picture gallery...and butcher’s shop where the sausages are a great souvenir to take home.
